Character Encounters and Family Trails
Looking for something fun to do with the kids over the weekend? Bring them into the Maritime Museum to meet our roving characters and take an interactive journey through our galleries.
The first weekend of every month the museum will feature a special character to meet in the galleries. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore the museum and be entertained by their stories of how they journeyed to Aotearoa.
The museum also has gallery trails to enliven your family experience through the museum. Grab your activity booklet as you enter the museum and collect museum character stickers upon completion of the trail.
There are two trail booklets to choose from! Visitors can either design their own boat in our Blue Water Black Magic gallery looking at New Zealand’s modern sailing heroes, or they can decide on their own journey story where they can use the activity booklet to create the experience of travelling to a new place in our Immigration gallery in the form of a suitcase lightbox.
Character experience will run from 11am - 2.30pm on the first weekend of every month.
Family Trails is $3 per person
